Chief Advancement Officer

Princeton, New Jersey

The Center for Supportive Schools (CSS) seeks an innovative, strategic, collaborative, entrepreneurial, and proven leader to serve as its Chief Advancement Officer (CAO). This dynamic leader will advance an organizational commitment to sustainable growth and resources—as articulated within the North Star Objectives and Five Facets of Strategy for CSS—by launching a comprehensive fundraising program enabling fulfillment of mission and vision in new, exciting, and sustainable ways. The CAO will join CSS at an exciting time in our history, the 45th anniversary of our flagship program Peer Group Connection (PGC), and under the leadership of a visionary CEO, Board of Trustees, and senior leadership team.

CSS will welcome the acumen of an experienced advancement professional who cultivates and fosters a culture of philanthropy, drives donor engagement and secures resources, as well as builds capacity among colleagues and reporting team. This leader has hands-on experience with corporate and foundation relations, as well as demonstrated successes in continuous improvement, strategic execution, coaching teams, achieving, and exceeding $10+ million-dollar annual fundraising goals. Alongside the CEO and Executive Leadership Team, the CAO will define an annual goal for CSS that will grow over time, but the expectation that this leader has experience with campaigns exceeding $10M.

Community School Director, NE Region (anticipated openings across the five boroughs)

New York, New York

The full-time Community School Director is responsible for the day-to-day management of a community school strategy, including building and maintaining relationships with administration, faculty, staff, and students as the “community organizer” of the school and community; creating, strengthening, and maintaining the bridge between the school and community; and facilitating and providing leadership for the collaborative process and development of a continuum of services for children, families and community members within the school neighborhood. The Community School Director will assist the school in developing implementation action plans, troubleshooting implementation obstacles, and planning for sustainability. They will track the school’s progress against performance goals, collect school data, and support program evaluation activities. Additional responsibilities include managing community partnerships and facilitating School Leadership Team (SLT) meetings. Initially, the Community School Director will support establishing and implementing a community school strategy. Over time, they may support any or all of CSS’s leadership solutions that may be implemented at the school. The Community School Director will ensure that the community school strategy is implemented at exceptional levels of quality with full support, buy-in, and regular communication with stakeholders across the school community.

Student & Family Engagement Coordinator, Northeast Region (anticipated openings across the five boroughs)

As the full-time Student & Family Engagement Coordinator, you will be responsible for the day-to-day management of the community school’s student engagement strategy, including building and maintaining relationships with administration, faculty, staff, and students during the traditional school; creating, strengthening, and maintaining the bridge between the school and the community in the efforts of promoting student success; and facilitating and providing leadership for the collaborative process and development of a continuum of services for student success in academics, attendance, and social-emotional development.

Program Manager, Middle States Region (Delaware, District of Columbia & Maryland)

Maryland or District of Columbia

As the full-time Program Manager, Middle States Region (Delaware, District of Columbia, & Maryland), you will be primarily responsible for:

  • Coaching school staff (teachers, counselors, social workers, administrators, and other school staff, etc.) in our partner schools who are serving as advisors and mentors as they implement our programs in their schools. Similar to the training role described immediately below, coaching is characterized by a facilitative approach that mirrors the ways that faculty are trained to work with their students.

  • Facilitating at training events, which includes co-facilitating small groups in an experiential learning setting at both residential (overnight) training experiences as well as 1-day training experiences at designated training site locations and schools.

 Through these two key responsibilities, you will provide day-to-day management of a portfolio of CSS’s leadership solutions throughout Delaware, District of Columbia & Maryland. The Program Manager will be responsible for building and maintaining relationships with partner schools and providing technical assistance and coaching to teams of administrators and faculty to plan for successful program implementation. The Program Manager will assist schools in developing implementation action plans, troubleshooting implementation obstacles, and planning for program sustainability. Based on grant opportunities, you may also support school participation in a rigorous evaluation study. The Program Manager will ensure that CSS’s programming is implemented at exceptional levels of quality.

Administrative & Program Associate, Middle States Region

Princeton, New Jersey

The full-time Administrative & Program Associate will support the following areas and programs: Community Schools in Jersey City, the FDA tobacco control initiative, regional leadership support, and finance administrative support. In addition, you will provide general office management and support of other programs, as needed. Other responsibilities include preparing training materials; coordinating training events with hotels and other venues, including on-site support during training events; maintaining databases on partner schools; and assisting with research evaluation activities, including data collection, data entry, and summarizing program implementation data.
